A recent example of our capabilities is the operable wall system developed for the Athletics facility at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA. The architect desired to have the folding operable wall to match exactly with the sight lines of the fixed window systems on the adjacent curtainwall. We also heard, ‘we’d like the operable wall to appear as if no opening was present when the door was closed,so that the closed door matched exactly to the fixed window  systems.

 Design Intent:

- Maintain sight lines and aesthetic consistency across the building facade

- Maximize open space, glass, and natural light, creating a flow between interior and exterior spaces

- Serve as a focal design element, seamlessly integrated when closed and architecturally interesting when open

 Challenges:

- Achieving an exact match of the sight lines for the bi-folding operable wall system

- Matching specific color and glass aesthetic requirements to the adjacent facade
